Exceptions are cases where you are out of RAM, have other heavy CPU jobs going or your disk IO is blocking. Others can follow the same process I did... Upon trying to run them from the terminal, i got errors about libjpeg.so.62 not being available software centre: ImportError: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Rhythmbox: I just extracted the lib's from a rpm and placed it in /usr/lib/lightworks. Lightworks detects a lot of problems that it doesn't tell you about via the UI, the output is here.
