Starting to study C++ using Ubuntu (the only one with gcc installed). This is definitely not a GCC issue. That did solve my problem. The actual binary is /usr/libexec/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.8.2/cc1 also provided by cpp-4.8.5-4.el7.x86_64.I'd try and reinstall cpp.
